Organist

Position Summary:

St. Catherine of Siena Parish is seeking an Organist to provide instrumental support to the designated choirs and Masses on select Saturday evenings and/or Sundays. Provides accompaniment for choir rehearsals as needed.

Key responsibilities:

• Serves as the primary musician at two designated Mass times per week.
• Practice and play designated liturgical music, as planned by the pastor.
• Accompany congregational singing.
• Cantor, if needed, the responsorial psalm and Alleluia verse, and lead congregational hymns.
• Participate in choir rehearsals on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings.
• May be asked to provide music for weddings and/or funerals.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

• Five+ years playing the organ in a pastoral setting.
• Proven ability to read music.
• A sense of traditional music programs geared to maximize participation of the congregation.
• Effective oral and written communication skills. 
• Bachelors Degree in Music, Music Appreciation, or related field preferred.
• Must be proficient on both the organ and piano.
• Proven ability to work with diverse teams, with varying musical talents.
• Ability to direct from the bench.
• An understanding of GIRM and the rubrics of the Roman Missal.
• Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks
• Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training.
