Position Summary:
Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Southern Pines, NC is seeking a Parish Organist. The Parish Organist will accompany masses throughout the weekend on organ and piano as well Holy Days of Obligation and Holidays. The accompanist will also play during choir rehearsals during the week. Organist will also play at Funerals and weddings for extra compensation as needed.
Key responsibilities:
- Accompany Saturday Vigil mass (5:00PM), Sunday 9:00 AM, 11:00 AM, and 1:00PM Spanish Mass.
- Accompany Tuesday Children’s Choir And parish Choir, as well as the Wednesday Spanish Choir rehearsals.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s in Music or equivalent work experience.
- 2 Years of related work experience related to church accompanist.
- Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference check.
- Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training within 60 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to play organ and piano
- Sightread music, read open score, light improvisation skills, and ability to play various styles including chant, four part hymns, contemporary, and Latin American music
- Ability to collaborate with other musicians/singers
