Position Summary:

The Community Engagement Manager is a full-time position reporting to the Business Manager, who is responsible for leading efforts in public relations, community outreach, and social media. This role is pivotal in fostering meaningful connections within the parish and the broader community, advancing the Church’s mission of evangelization, supporting the parishes’ technology infrastructure, and overseeing internal and external communications. This role ensures that all technological tools operate efficiently while maintaining a consistent and engaging public image across digital platforms. The coordinator works closely with parish leadership, and vendors to enhance operational effectiveness, protect information security, and promote the parishes brand and messaging.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Public Relations:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive public relations strategy to enhance the parish’s visibility and reputation in the local community.
    • Craft press releases, media kits, and newsletters to communicate parish events, initiatives, and achievements to local media outlets and the public.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and coordinate interviews with clergy, staff, or parishioners as needed.
    • Monitor media coverage and maintain a positive public image aligned with Catholic teachings and the parish’s mission.
  • Community Outreach:
    • Design and execute outreach programs to engage diverse groups, including families, youth, seniors, and underserved populations, fostering a sense of belonging and participation.
    • Build partnerships with local organizations, schools, and charities to support collaborative initiatives, such as service projects, food drives, or interfaith events.
    • Coordinate volunteer recruitment and training for outreach activities, ensuring alignment with the parish’s evangelistic goals.
    • Represent the parish at community events, building relationships with civic leaders, local businesses, and other faith communities.
    • Develop a detailed membership growth strategy
  • Social Media and Digital Engagement:
    • Manage the parish’s social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube) to share inspiring content, promote events, and engage followers in a way that reflects Catholic values.
    • Develop a content calendar for regular posts, including photos, videos, testimonials, and spiritual reflections, to maintain an active and engaging online presence.
    • Monitor social media analytics to assess engagement and adjust strategies to maximize reach and impact.
    • Oversee the parish website’s content updates, ensuring it serves as an accessible resource for parishioners and visitors.
  • Event Support and Promotion:
    • Collaborate with parish staff and ministry leaders to promote liturgical celebrations, fundraisers, retreats, and community events through various channels.
    • Create marketing materials (e.g., flyers, posters, email campaigns) to drive attendance and participation.
    • Assist in planning and executing major parish events, ensuring strong community turnout and a welcoming experience.
  • Other Duties as Assigned
    • Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as directed by the Business Manager and Pastor to support organizational goals and operational needs.
  • Work Environment:
    • Working in a Catholic Church setting with lay staff and clergy.
    • Regular meetings and events inside and outside the parish.
    • Occasional evening and weekend work as required to meet business needs.
    • Physical demands include occasional lifting of equipment (up to 50 lbs.) and setting up technology for events.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum level of education: Associate degree in any field.
  • Relevant work experience in community outreach, public speaking, public relations, communications, marketing, or social media.
  • Professional proficiency in community outreach, public speaking, public relations, communications, marketing, and social media.
  • Ability to successfully manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a demanding environment.
  • Successful completion of criminal background and reference checks.
  • Successful completion of Diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, business, public relations, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1+ years of relevant work experience in community outreach, public speaking, public relations, communications, marketing, or social media
