Position Summary:
The Music and Fine Arts Teacher for grades 5th-8th is responsible for delivering a comprehensive program in music and fine arts that supports students’ creative, academic, and spiritual development. Instruction is designed to foster artistic and musical expression, foundational skills in visual and performing arts, and an appreciation for beauty, creativity, and worship rooted in the Catholic faith. The role includes integrating faith-based values into instruction, encouraging creativity across multiple artistic disciplines, and contributing to a positive school culture that reflects the mission and vision of Infant of Prague Catholic School.
Key responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate, standards-based music and fine arts lessons for grades 5-8
- Teach foundational music concepts including rhythm, melody, singing, movement, and appreciation of music
- Incorporate a variety of visual arts techniques, media, and introductory art and music history
- Integrate Catholic values, themes, traditions, and liturgical elements into instruction
- Prepare students for school performances, liturgies, concerts, and special events as needed
- Assess and evaluate student progress through projects, performances, participation, and portfolios
- Maintain an organized, safe, and creative classroom environment that encourages student participation and expression
- Display student artwork and support school-wide arts initiatives and events
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs of young learners
- Collaborate with faculty and administration to support interdisciplinary learning
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and development
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school activities
- Support and potentially lead extracurricular opportunities such as choir, drama, or fine arts clubs
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum level of Education: Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Fine Arts, Arts Education, or related field
- Minimum years of work experience: 3+ years (teaching or relevant experience preferred)
- Teaching certification is required
- Practicing Catholic preferred and must support the mission, vision, and teachings of the Catholic Church
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Ability to integrate faith and learning within a Catholic school setting
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
- Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks
- Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience teaching music and/or fine arts (grades 5-8)
- Experience in a Catholic or faith-based school setting
- Familiarity with integrating religious themes into creative instruction and performances
- Experience with music technology, digital art tools, and technology integration
- Ability to direct student performances, choir, or extracurricular arts programs
