Position Summary:

The Diocese of Raleigh is seeking a highly motivated and skilled IT Field Support Specialist to join our collaborative and supportive technology team. The IT Field Support Specialist is a crucial role providing exceptional technical support to our parishes and schools across a multi-county region of eastern North Carolina.

In this role, you will be responsible for end-user assistance, hardware/software troubleshooting, and maintaining the seamless operation of our IT infrastructure. We are looking for a technically proficient problem-solver with excellent customer service skills and the flexibility to travel throughout the region of eastern North Carolina on a weekly basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides first-level technical support to end-users via multiple channels identifying, investigating, and resolving users’ problems with computer software and hardware.
  • Applies knowledge of computer software, hardware, and procedures to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer systems and mobile device software, and peripherals.
  • Install, configure, and maintain IP telephony devices and cloud phone pbx systems.
  • Assist with the setting up and maintenance of user accounts and access permissions.
  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining IT Security systems.
  • Document and track support requests and resolutions using a ticketing system.
  • Develops and communicates department projects and goals.
  • Collaborate with other IT team members to identify and implement improvements.
  • Collaborate with other employees to research and resolve problems.
  • Provide training and guidance to end-users on IT best practices and tools.
  • Coordinates service with software, hardware, or network vendors as needed.
  • Evaluates expanding or enhancing computer operations; makes recommendations for improvement and upgrades to hardware and software to manage workload and system requirements.
  • Participates in projects, implementations and support of multiple locations.
  • Stay up to date with the latest technological trends and advancements.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree in information technology/computer science or related field or carry an equivalent level of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • At least 1 year of related experience as an IT Field Support Specialist, IT Field Technician or similar role is highly preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license that’s in good standing and have willingness to travel on a regular basis (80% Travel Per Week) periodically using your personal vehicle (with mileage reimbursement) when an organizational vehicle is unavailable for use.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems.
  • Familiarity with network protocols, hardware, and software troubleshooting.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Possess and ability to explain technical issues to both technical and nontechnical employees and customers.
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn an array of computer hardware peripherals and software applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Employment is contingent upon applicants satisfactorily passing a criminal background check and reference checks.
  • Must complete Safe Environment Training within 30 days of hire.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) are a plus.
