Position Summary:
The Director of Music assists the Pastor in facilitating the liturgical life of the parish by coordinating and providing music leadership at all parish liturgies. This exempt, full-time position requires primarily weekend and weekday evening availability.
Key responsibilities:
- The primary responsibilities include the weekly planning, rehearsals, and execution of liturgical music each weekend (Sat 5:00 PM, Sun 8:30, & 11:00 AM), Holy Days (12:00 Noon & 6:30 PM), special feast days, and other parish liturgical events.
- The Director of Music is available to plan and provide resources for families and others involved in funerals, weddings, etc. that take place at the parish.
- The Director of Music, along with the Pastor and Business Administrator, will prepare an annual budget.
Minimum Requirements:
- Master’s degree in music (preferrable) or equivalent education.
- 3-5 years’ music ministry experience.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- instrumental and vocal skills, knowledge and appreciation for Catholic liturgy and music
- Employment is contingent upon applicant’s satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks
- Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Leadership skills.
- Experience working with cantors, choirs, and instrumentalists.
- Catholic in Good Standing.
Supervises: supervise and rehearse with cantors, choirs, and musicians
