Position Summary:
Cardinal Gibbons High School is a college preparatory school of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Raleigh. We are seeking applicants for a full-time educator to teach a 9th-grade course, Gibbons Freshman Seminar (GFS). This position suits an educator with middle school/high school English or Social Studies experience. We are looking to fill this role for the 2025-2026 school year.
The GFS course was created to ensure students have the foundational skills to be academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually engaged in the school community by:
- Providing a student-centered learning experience that promotes inquiry and inspires curiosity,
- Implementing learning opportunities that are personalized, relevant, and current to their academic experience,
- Offering highly engaging experiences to “deep dive”,
- Fostering collaborative and interactive learning experiences.
Throughout the year, students will apply their learned skills in the following power-focus areas: communication, technology, social-emotional learning, catholic identity, contemporary world issues, and executive functioning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lesson Planning: Plan with other GFS educators to develop engaging and interactive lessons that incorporate a variety of teaching methods and resources to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Classroom Instruction: Deliver instruction effectively, using innovative teaching strategies to stimulate students' interest and facilitate their understanding of complex business concepts.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Assess student learning through a variety of methods, including tests, quizzes, projects, presentations, and class participation, providing constructive feedback to support student growth and development.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment conducive to academic achievement and personal growth, while promoting respect, responsibility, and cooperation among students.
- Professional Development: Stay current with trends and developments in the field of business education through ongoing professional development activities, such as workshops, conferences, and continuing education courses.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support student learning and achievement, participate in departmental meetings and school-wide initiatives, and contribute to the overall success of the school community.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Teaching certification license (preferred).
- Position suits an educator with middle school/high school ELA or Social Studies experience.
- Strong knowledge of teaching and learning principles.
- Previous teaching experience at the high school level (preferred).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students to reach their full potential.
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development.
- Passion for education and a genuine interest in helping high school students succeed.
- Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks.
- Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training.
