Parishioners from Diocese of Raleigh offer $44,019 to assist storm victims

Faithful from throughout the diocese gave more than $44,000 to a special collection to help victims of the storms that hit the South and Midwest regions of the United States in late 2015, as well as other natural disasters.

As of July 31, 2016, dioceses had sent in more than $2.57 million. According to organizers, the collected funds will be split between Catholic Charities USA for its humanitarian response (75%) and U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops to help dioceses repair and rebuild damaged church-owned buildings (25%). The Committee on National Collections has tasked the Subcommittee on Catholic Home Missions with the distribution of the USCCB share of funds.
