Arlington faithful continue to support victims of Hurricane Matthew in N.C.

05-01-2017

People in the Diocese of Arlington recently donated $18,044 to help those impacted by Hurricane Matthew, which made landfall Oct. 8 in South Carolina and first impacted North Carolina Oct. 9 with record-level flooding.

This recent donation was given to Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Raleigh, which continues to help those impacted by the storm. The gift is the second of its kind from the faithful in the Diocese of Arlington. They gave $68,017 in December.

To date, the faithful in Arlington have given more than $86,000 to help those impacted by the storm.

The collections were gathered at the direction of Bishop Paul Loverde, who served as the bishop of the Diocese of Arlington from 1999 – 2016. Bishop Michael Burbidge, former bishop of the Diocese of Raleigh, was installed as bishop of the Diocese of Arlington on Dec. 6.
