Position Overview:

We are seeking a zealous and visionary individual to serve as our Area Director, overseeing the operations and ministry of our non-profit organization dedicated to serving inner-city teens. As the Area Director, you will be responsible for spiritually leading missionaries, modeling effective ministry practices in both small and large group settings, fundraising, and building vital local connections within the community. You will lead a team of dedicated missionaries, providing them with spiritual guidance, mentorship, and support as they work tirelessly to make a positive impact in the lives of inner-city teens.

Responsibilities:

Spiritual Leadership:

  • Develop a yearly personal growth plan that fosters a vibrant spiritual life including time for monthly spiritual direction, daily Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, Confession, solitude, retreat, reflection, prayer, and Scripture.
  • Provide spiritual guidance and mentorship to missionaries, empowering them to effectively minister to inner-city teens.
  • Model Christ-like behavior and values to provide impactful ministry experiences rooted in love, compassion, and faith.
  • Actively participate in the spiritual life of the Vagabond Missions community.

Ministry Oversight:

  • Lead by example in both small and large group settings, demonstrating effective ministry techniques and strategies.
  • Build meaningful relationships with teens, serving as a positive role model and mentor. 
  • Oversee ministry programs and initiatives. Ensure that all activities align with the organization's mission and values. 
  • Develop and implement ongoing plans to maximize Gospel proclamation through retreat opportunities.
  • Set yearly strategic ministry plans and initiatives to reach kids; review them on a regular basis.
  • Provide clear, prompt, appropriate and professional communication to everyone involved in the ministry.

Fundraising and Budgeting: 

  • Personally support raise salary and communicate regularly with donors, utilizing the organization's fundraising training and methodology.
  • Cultivate relationships with donors and supporters, communicating the impact of our work and inspiring continued generosity.
  • Manage the local budget. Coordinate local in-kind donations and community support.

Community and Resource Engagement:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local churches, schools, businesses, and community organizations. Collaborate with community leaders to identify opportunities for partnership and support.
  • Manage and oversee local leases, utilities and bills for the local missionary community.

Qualifications:

  • A strong personal relationship with Christ and commitment to the Catholic faith.
  • A call to reach teens with the Gospel.
  • 3+ years experience in ministry leadership and/or working with youth, particularly in urban or inner-city settings
  • (or comparable).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Proven ability to fundraise and build relationships with donors and supporters.
  • Strong organizational and leadership abilities, with the capacity to effectively manage a team and programs.
