Position Summary:
St. Peter Catholic Church in Greenville, NC is seeking a Director of Religious Education to join its team! The Director of Religious Education (DRE) will oversee the Faith Formation education programs including but not limited to Youth Ministry, retreats, sacramental programs, children with special needs programs, Vacation Bible School, adult formation, and any other education activities assigned by the Pastor.
Key responsibilities:
Oversee Faith Formation Education programs including the development of the Parish Youth Faith Formation program from grades 1-8 in accordance with the DOR.
Prepares the yearly parish formation calendar in conjunction with the master parish calendar
Ensures that the Safe Environment requirements, policies, and mandates for Religious Education volunteers are up to date.
Attend local DRE deanery meetings
Oversees the budget for all expenses related to the parish religious education program and works closely with the business manager for approval of purchases.
Works with the Sacramental Records Bookkeeper for Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation to make sure all documents and paperwork are gathered for sacraments.
Minimum Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree or Master Catechesis certificate.
- At least 1-3 years of experience working with children.
- Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks
- Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training.
Preferred Qualifications
- Must be a Catholic in good standing with the church who understands and supports the teaching of the Roman Catholic Church and also acts an an example and role model in their personal life.
