Preschool Teacher Assistant

Hours per week: 8 to 16 hrs.

Position Summary:

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Raleigh is seeking a Preschool Teacher Assistant (for ages 2 to 4 years old) to join St. Michael Preschool in Cary, NC. The teacher assistant will support the lead teacher and share in the responsibilities for the safety and physical well-being of the children, as well as engage the children in play and activities that are developmentally appropriate.

Key responsibilities:

• Work closely with lead teachers to execute day-to-day classroom operations, including various aspects of instruction, from whole group, to small group, to monitoring the class during independent practice, to supervising students during lunch, recess and times of transition.
• Support the lead teacher and students in the classroom as needed and at the direction of the lead teacher.        

Minimum Requirements:

• Two or more years of experience working with young children. 
• Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks
• Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a play-based early childhood center.
• A practicing Catholic preferred with thorough knowledge of the Catholic faith and ability to communicate it to wider audience in both words and actions.
