Position Summary:

Immaculata Catholic School is seeking a part-time middle school ELA teacher and curriculum and instruction coach for the 2024-2025 school year. Candidates possessing school administrative experience and middle school teaching experience are preferred.

The successful candidate will work well with the principal, administrative leadership team and faculty at Immaculata in order to deliver ELA content in the MS classroom and collaborate with the 6-8 faculty team as curriculum and instruction lead and coach. The 6-8 Faculty C&I Coach will provide support, in the form of professional development, observation, mentorship and coaching, for classroom teachers at the 6-8 grade levels. The 6-8 C&I Coach will report to the Dean of Academics and work closely with the leadership team to design and implement the vision for exemplary instruction at ICS.

Ideal candidates will be comfortable in a highly collaborative, professionally challenging environment. They will be experts in research-based curriculum and instruction practices in K-8 institutions.

Key responsibilities:

  • MS ELA Class: Teach one ELA class in the middle school.
  • Curricular Design and Implementation: with the assistance of the principal, review and edit curricular approaches school-wide and work with teams, from PLCs to committees, to monitor the effectiveness of curriculum and to redesign curricular approaches annually. Review and approve curricular adoptions at all levels, PK-8, and manage materials and textbook ordering annually with Chief of Staff, Principal and wider team.
  • Instructional Leadership: with the assistance of the principal, review, design and implement instructional approaches throughout the school by collaborating with faculty and teacher-teams and direct teacher-observation and classroom walkthroughs.
  • Faculty Coaching: with the assistance of the principal and Dean of Academics, manage a caseload of teachers in need of coaching by providing observations, feedback and structured plans for improvement.
  • Direct Reports: assist principal by providing observation and coaching for the 6-8 Faculty Team

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree in Education, School Leadership or Administration.
  • 5 years of experience teaching in K-12 Education, Faculty Coaching and Leadership
  • Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks
  • Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training within 60 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NC Teaching, Special Education, or Administrator’s License (either holding a current license or with a clear path to licensure) 
  • Advanced Degree in Education 
  • Spanish Language Proficiency / Multilingual Proficiency
