Hours Per Week:  40 (Full-time - (some weekends and evenings required).

Key responsibilities / day-to-day job functions:

  • Supervises the Formation Team in setting program goals, executing and supporting programming for formation and sacramental preparation.
  • Ensures that parish catechetical formation programs are consistent with The Catechism of the Catholic Church, The Directory for Catechesis, diocesan guidelines, and evaluates available formation materials for all programs.
  • Responsible for coordinating parish-wide adult formation programs employing current strategies for successful adult education.
  • Coordinates the year-round RCIA process and, in conjunction with the Director of Liturgy and Music, its liturgical rites.
  • Manages the formation budget and the overall departmental programming in collaboration with the formation team.
  • Coordinates and facilitates training and evaluation for volunteers in formation programs.
  • Oversees the administrative staff who organize and complete functions such as the maintenance of sacramental records, program registration, communication, program evaluation, and Safe Environment compliance.
  • Acts as a resource person for the Formation Team, parish staff, parish community, and religion teachers at The Franciscan School.
  • Handles confidential information with tact and discretion.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks.
  • Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training within 60 days of hire.
  • Knowledge of Catholic doctrine and beliefs as presented in the documents of the Second Vatican Council, The Catechism of the Catholic Church, and other relevant Church and catechetical documents.  Dedication to the advancement of a vision of the Church as promoted by the Second Vatican Council.
  • Experience in program administration, practical evangelization processes, catechetical leadership, and instruction at various levels, and integrating modern instructional technologies in the field of catechesis.
  • Strong relational and pastoral skill set and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in basic data management, project planning, time management, and interpreting reports.
  • Ability to create and interpret ministry budgets.
  • Minimum level of Education: Master’s Degree in theology, pastoral studies, religious education, or related field.
  • Minimum amount of Work Experience:
    • Years of related work experience: 5 years.
    • Minimum of three years of supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in basic data management, project planning, time management, and interpreting reports.
  • Strong experience with MS Office.
