Maintenance/Janitorial Assistant

Position Summary:

St. Catherine of Siena in Wake Forest, NC is seeking a Maintenance/Janitorial Assistant. The Maintenance/Janitorial Assistant will assist the Maintenance Supervisor in the operational aspects of building and grounds maintenance for the parish and school.

Key responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance duties including painting, minor electrical and lighting repairs, plumbing, carpentry, and general maintenance.
• Respond to emergency calls from the parish and school for maintenance, repairs, and janitorial services.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot problem areas and consult with Maintenance Supervisor on proper remedies.
• Keep inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment and report needs to the Maintenance Supervisor.
• Work with and maintain relationships with subcontractors and vendors.
• Comply with all safety and health regulations.
• Assist with special events or liturgical activity setup and takedown.

Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum level of Education:  High School Graduate.
• 5+ years of related work experience related to commercial or residential maintenance.
• Valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
• Ability to work well with others in a cooperative team-based atmosphere.
• Meticulous attention to detail.
• Must read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, and other relevant manuals and instructions.
• Possess the physical strength and physical agility and ability to lift and carry at least 50 lbs.
• Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks.
• Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training within 30 days of hire.
