Position Summary:

St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Wake Forest, NC is seeking a Hispanic Ministry Coordinator. This is a part-time position that facilitates communication and coordinates sacramental requests between the Spanish-speaking parish community and the parish office. Working with the Parochial Vicar, this position coordinates Hispanic meetings and events of the parish.

Key responsibilities:

  • Accepts requests for Spanish baptisms gathering all necessary paperwork and following proper procedures.
  • Provides information in Spanish about Faith Formation or sacraments of initiation.
  • Assists with Spanish Announcements, Social Media, and Spanish bulletin announcements.
  • Facilitates Spanish requests for Anointings, Funerals, and House Blessings with the Parochial Vicar.
  • Assists with organizing Hispanic Ministry meetings and events with the Parochial Vicar.
  • Coordinates Safe Environment training for Hispanic volunteers.
  • Assists in communication between Spanish speaking parishioners and other members of the staff, acting as an interpreter.
  • Provides updates to Pastor on Hispanic Ministry activities.
  • Provides regular communication and follow-up to volunteer coordinators in the Hispanic Ministry.
  • Participates in staff meetings.
  • Answers the phone and covers reception desk as needed.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be bilingual with strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish.
  • Associate degree or equivalent office experience. 
  • Minimum amount of Work Experience 3+ years.
  • Must be an active, fully initiated, practicing Catholic.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Google products.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Team-oriented – ability to work toward parish and staff goals.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks.
  • Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Catholic sacraments and sacramental living
  • Experience in educational setting and/or catechetical experience
  • Experience in basic data management, project planning, and time management.
  • Experience in recruiting, motivating and mobilizing volunteers.

Position Start Date: As soon as possible
