Key responsibilities / day-to-day job functions

  • Work closely with the pastor to plan and provide excellent and appropriate music at each Eucharistic Celebration
  • Supervise music for all liturgies. Conduct the Adult Choir at the 9:30 and 11:30 Mass each Sunday
  • Coordinate and supervise choirs: Adult, Teen, Children, & Handbells
  • Schedule rehearsals, choose music, create weekly rehearsal plans & conduct rehearsals
  • Supervise and train all parish cantors
  • Supervise and support all parish instrumentalists: organ, piano, guitar, bass, flute, etc.
  • Assist families in planning meaningful and liturgically correct weddings and funerals
  • Attend weekly staff meetings
  • Supervise a Music Office Administrative Assistant
  • Supervise and support volunteer directors within the Music Ministry
  • Collaborate with the St. Andrew Parish Staff on projects as needed
  • Prepare and manage a yearly music budget
  • Operate, diagnose problems and maintain all sound systems, electronic musical equipment, and musical instruments


Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum level of Education:  Candidate should have a BA or BM in Music
  • Minimum amount of Work Experience
    • Years of related work experience: 3 years
    • Area of related work experience: Some previous experience in Catholic Parish Music Ministry

Preferred Qualifications

  • Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing
  • BA or BM in Music, (Master’s preferred)
  • Strong choral conducting experience and skills
  • Advanced organ and piano skills
  • Handbell conducting experience and skills
  • Organizational, planning and collaborative skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Practicing Catholic in good standing
