Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic School is a K-8 Catholic school located in Apex. We are currently accepting resumes for a full-time Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction. The position serves as a key member of the executive administrative team, working collaboratively with the Principal to fulfill the school's mission. 

The Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction has a complete understanding of the school philosophy and is committed to supporting and implementing the vision of the school by fostering strong relationships and leadership; thereby assisting the Church and school in the mission of evangelizing. As a school leader, the Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction strives to imitate Christ, in servant-leadership, seeking the will of the Father.

The Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction serves as a member of the administrative team to develop and implement the total school program.

Key responsibilities / day-to-day job functions

  • Planning the School Program: assists in the development and establishing of the school goals and objectives and the planning of the schools’ instructional program
  • Implementing the School Program: assists to provide direction to faculty in implementing goals and objectives and interacts and meets with faculty to assist in their development
  • Evaluation and Remediation of the School Program: assists in the evaluation of the school program and of faculty and assists to initiate needed improvements
  • Involving the Staff in Budget Allocations: involves the faculty in setting budget priorities
  • Keeping Professionally Competent: acts to upgrade one's professional knowledge and skills
  • Coordinating Budgets and Master Schedule: assists in the preparation and management of budgets and schedules
  • Handling Disciplinary Procedures: assists to define and disseminate information about school disciplinary policies and procedures to parents, students, faculty, and community
  • Coordinating and Communicating the Schools Formal Structure: communicates and carries out established policies, delegates and accepts responsibility for completion of tasks and communicates program goals, objectives, and policies to the community
  • Facilitating Organizational Efficiency: promotes and maintains open communications, positive student attitudes, respects dignity, worth of staff, students, and complies with established lines of authority
  • Assisting in Record Keeping: assists in completion of records and reports and in the supervision and inventory of necessary supplies, textbooks, equipment and materials

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum level of Education: Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from an accredited college or university or working towards the completion of an accredited leadership program
  • Valid North Carolina teaching certification with a minimum of five (5) years teaching experience, with Catholic school experience preferred
  • Valid Administrative certification or must be in the process of working towards completion of an administrative certification
  • A practicing Roman Catholic who will inspire our school to pray, learn, and care
  • Candidates should have a shared vision of the value of Catholic education across all constituencies, faculty, students, and parents and the greater faith community
