The Catholic Diocese of Raleigh has an immediate need for an Annual Appeals Director who will be responsible for the planning, organization and execution of an $8.5M direct mail campaign, the Priests’ Retirement Collection, the second collections administered on behalf of the USCCB annually, and any other special collections which may arise.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages entire Annual Appeal solicitation planning process including Bishop’s Circle events and conducting five training meetings annually for volunteers
  • Visits assigned parishes at least once per year and maintain monthly contact with assigned parishes via email and telephone communication regarding their BAA and USCCB needs
  • Prepares written materials including marketing materials, correspondence, solicitation materials, acknowledgements, and regular communications as part of the Annual Appeal
  • Plan, promote and implement five BAA regional committee meetings, regional and Diocesan Stewardship Conferences, donor receptions, and an annual Mass of Thanksgiving to connect donors to the mission of the Church and aid BAA maintenance gift solicitation
  • Assures accurate and timely gift acknowledgements, thank you letters and pledge reminders by processing gift acknowledgments twice monthly and tax letters annually


  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field
  • Five years of experience in fundraising/stewardship and marketing
  • Direct mail and market segmentation experience
  • Experience working in a team environment and strong ability to multi-task required
  • Ability to meet deadlines with a strong sense of urgency is necessary
  • Ability to work effectively with donors, staff, contractors, and others
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (including Word, Publisher, PowerPoint) and Blackbaud Raiser's Edge and Parish Soft
  • Excellent quantitative analytical skills and creativity in problem solving 
  • Practicing Catholic who possesses a sound working knowledge of the Catholic faith
