School Counselor (PK – 8)

Hours Per Week:  22.5 (3 days/week) (Part-time)

Key responsibilities / day-to-day job functions:

• Implement developmentally appropriate classroom and school-wide activities which focus on social-emotional growth and intelligence;
• Assist with student academic planning and goal setting;
• Provide short-term individual and small group counseling to improve social interaction, address learning challenges, and support mental wellness;
• Provide referrals for long-term support, as needed (ie. outside counseling services, mental health services, psychoeducational testing, etc.);
• Collaborate with families/teachers/administrators to promote overall student success; and
• Identify overall student population needs to plan and implement developmentally-appropriate, proactive counseling services to improve student learning and behavior outcomes that align with our Catholic faith and beliefs.  

Minimum Requirements:

• Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks.
• Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training within 60 days of hire.
• Minimum level of Education: Master’s Degree in School Counseling or related field.
• Minimum amount of Work Experience:
  • Years of related work experience  3 or more years in a school or pediatric setting.
  • Area of related work experience: Mental Health Counseling.
