The Cardinal Gibbons High School class of 2016 graduation weekend began on Friday, May 27, with Baccalaureate Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Raleigh. The Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge served as the principal celebrant with many parish priests concelebrating.
In his homily, Bishop Burbidge advised the students to "keep your eyes fixed above and on your ultimate goal, accompany and support one another as brothers and sisters in Christ, and remember Jesus leads and we follow. So, walk don’t run. Walk trustingly, lovingly and humbly with your God, and you will know great joy at this new and exciting time in your life and always."
On Sunday, May 29, Cardinal Gibbons High School graduated 323 students at the Memorial Auditorium at the Duke Energy Center in Raleigh.
