Position: Lay Campus Minister (UVA)

Location: St. Thomas Aquinas University Parish

Salary: Commensurate with Experience

The University of Virginia’s Catholic Student Ministry is seeking a Lay Campus Minister to serve the University of Virginia community.  The University of Virginia is a public institution of higher education located in Charlottesville, VA with an enrollment of over 16,000 undergraduate students.  The Catholic Student Ministry is under the leadership of Saint Thomas Aquinas University Parish staffed by Dominican Friars of the Province of Saint Joseph.  The Lay Campus Minister is responsible for working alongside the Dominican priest-chaplain and FOCUS missionaries in the development, implementation, and direction of a comprehensive campus ministry program for the undergraduate students of UVA.  Furthermore, these responsibilities would include supervising student leaders, overseeing financial accounts, being the liaison between the students and staff of the parish, pastorally responding to student needs, overseeing development efforts, building interfaith relationships among the other campus ministries at UVA, and supervising student programs and activities.

Qualifications: Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing.  A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required with a master’s degree preferred (in a relevant field).  3-5 years of prior experience in pastoral work, preferably campus ministry.

This is a full time exempt position on a salary basis.  Salary is commensurate with experience and diocesan pay scale.
