Saint John Paul II Catholic School is a vibrant parochial school with an experienced and dedicated faculty and current enrollment of 200 students. The school was founded in 2002 and is located in the beautiful Sandhills region of North Carolina.
Position Description: Saint John Paul II Catholic School seeks an experienced and energetic educator to serve as principal for its Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade traditional academic program beginning in the 2016-2017 school year. A candidate must be a practicing Catholic in full communion with the Catholic Church who espouses the teachings and traditions of the Magisterium and is devoted to a reverent and sacramental life.
Education: A qualified candidate will have a Master’s Degree in School Administration, or its equivalent, and must hold, or be able to obtain, a North Carolina Administrator’s License.
Experience: A highly qualified candidate will have two or more years administrator/principal/assistant principal experience and three or more years classroom teaching experience, preferably in a parochial school setting.
The principal search committee is seeking a leader who will exhibit the following characteristics:
• Ability to foster an environment which demonstrates the school’s Catholic identity by actively participating in the faith life of the school, by promoting the school as a mission of the Parish, and by providing opportunities for school and community faith development.
• Instructional and academic leadership which fosters a positive and rigorous learning environment for all students. The principal will enable the professional development of the faculty and staff so that educational opportunities are accessible to all learners, and to that end will lead teachers in the review/implementation of curriculum and effective instructional methodology; will maintain AdvancED accreditation standards, and will perform supervisory and evaluative responsibilities.
• Dynamic and effective communication skills which positively articulate the school’s mission, vision, philosophy, policies, and procedures to all stakeholders.
• Employment of effective decision-making processes; planning, managing, and monitoring the school’s operating budget; strategically planning for enrollment maintenance and growth; and collaborating with Parish leaders for the best use of existing and future facilities.
