Key responsibilities / day-to-day job functions

In collaboration with the Liturgy and Formation Team, this individual will focus on post-Confirmation ministry, working primarily with high school youth and young adults in college/early career. With a liturgy-centric approach and through small group-model ministry, retreats, social events, service projects, and camps, the Coordinator will work with the existing adult core team to bring the Catholic faith to life and draw young people into the life of the parish community.

  • Planning and execution of high school youth ministry and young adult ministry events
  • Recruiting, training, and nurturing adult volunteers
  • Coordination of the existing peer ministry program
  • An active role in the elevation of Sunday 5:30pm Mass and its connection to youth ministry
  • A mentoring role for middle school youth ministry and Confirmation preparation

Minimum Requirements

  • Practicing Catholic
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 3-5 years of pastoral experience in youth and/or young adult ministry
  • excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills
  • possess a creative vision for engaging youth and young adults
  • Successful completion of Diocesan background check

St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Community in the Diocese of Raleigh, NC, is a large, vibrant parish (approximately 5,000 families) and offers the opportunity to minister alongside the Franciscan friars of the Holy Name Province, with a heavy emphasis on social justice.
